Prime Air Corp: Strategic partners of the Bio-Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Industry ecosystem
Since 2001, the wholly-Puerto Rican company, Prime Air Corp., provides global logistics services to the Bio-Pharmaceutical industry in Puerto Rico through flexible and innovative solutions 24/7. As strategic partners of the manufacturing ecosystem, the company plays a proactive role by offering cargo, air, sea and land transportation services. In addition, Prime Air Corp. actively collaborates in the Transportation Committee of the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association (PRMA), explained company president Iris Vincent, who has been part of the Executive Committee of this organization.
“At Prime Air, during the past years, we have managed to have a sustained growth mainly thanks to the manufacturing ecosystem created by Bio-Pharmaceutical companies who have selected us to supply their logistics needs, thus achieving the privilege of being their clients and business partners,” said Vincent.
The company provides services to 9 of the top 15 global pharmaceutical companies providing airfreight services such as Time Critical, which include Next Day, Weekend Shipment, Charters, and Overnight services.
In 2018, one year after the impact of Hurricane María on the island, Prime Air Corp. developed the only temperature-controlled warehouses at the Luis Muñoz Marín airport, dedicated to the Bio-Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices industry. In these facilities, which emulate the operational standards of the industry, the company offers storage services at temperatures from 2C to 8C and from 15C to 25C, becoming an extension of the supply chain of its clients at the airport.
The company is currently in the process of validating its second temperature-controlled warehouse at the airport to meet the demand of the sector. In addition, Prime Air is in the process of obtaining ISO9001 certification, while developing logistics technology applications to support the island’s Biosciences industry.
During the past 21 years, Prime Air has developed new services and offerings, and has managed private planes that during the hurricane season supply aid material to the entire island. Through private flights (charters) Prime Air also provides support for the launching of products that are manufactured in Puerto Rico and reach the entire world. The company also handles shipments of hazardous and sensitive materials to remote locations, with staff that prepared and trained on these logistics issues and industry regulations.
Furthermore, given that the hurricane season began in early June, Prime Air, which offers 24/7 logistics services, has activated its Hurricane Business Continuity Plan to guarantee the continuity of operations for all its clients.
