Representatives of the Small Business Administration visited our offices this week. Our visitors were Tameka Montomery- Associate Administrator, Yvette Collazo- District Director, Maria de los Angeles of Jesus- Deputy District Director and Angelique Adjutant- Public Affairs Officer.

During the visit very interesting themes emerged such as, what are the biggest challenges of the companies led by women in PR to achieve more federal procurement. Our President Iris Vincent indicated that one of the greatest challenges is to be able to convince the contracting officers that in Puerto Rico there is the talent to be able to provide the service directly; not only as a subcontractor for a US-based company. Another one of the questions that arose during the meeting was, what would I had done differently if I had had the opportunity? To which Iris Vincent replied; “Everything happens in life at the moment it has to happen; we understand that each thing comes when we are prepared to deal with it. Unlike the rest of our competition, customers are something special.  To serve is a gift, and we make sure we give a personalized service and we are very careful to meet each one of the requirements of our customers.”

We talked of the benefits that represent being certified as 8a and of the new regulation which stipulates that Puerto Rico is 85% hub zone and of the opportunities that this represents for the entrepreneurs in Puerto Rico.
